Texas Rangers Win the Pennant & New York Yankees Suffer Loss

The Texas Rangers finally broke a near 50 year drought of not having an apearance in a World Series. Today, the Texas Rangers completed a 4-2 ALCS series win over the 2009 World Series Champion New York Yankees and they Win the Pennant.

It has been an interesting and enjoyable series for Rangers fans and certainly Rangers fans are pleased that they were not forced to a do or die nerve wrecking game 7.

The first year of the franchise was back in 1961 when the team was the Washington Senators. The Texas Rangers were announced 11 years later in 1972. There was a long drought before the Texas Rangers were even in a post season appearance. This took place in 1996 when the same New York Yankees played the rangers and beat them in a 3-1 series victory.

It took the Texas Rangers another 14 years to make their way back to the post season. Under the guidance of team President and Hall of Fame MVP pitcher Nolan Ryan, the Rangers appeared to be on a mission and they completed a 4-2 series win. Josh Hamilton was the series MVP and it was a well deserved honor. I am certain owners of his baseball card are checking to see how much of a baseball card pricing  increase there is after this announcement. 

The Rangers will now be facing the winner of the NLCS and look to become the next World Series Winners. The Rangers organization have big plans to change the shape of the team for years to come. If they could become the next baseball dynasty as the Yankees have been for all of these years, they would certainly welcome the challenge and actually have from their GM's comments, this might be a long term goal.
