As a child I experience once wanted to learn how to speak Spanish. My desire came back when Spain have won the 2010 WorldFootball Cup. Viva! But the number one step that must be considered before actually speaking the language should be to understand it.

On a similar note, I have once had the impression that I can acquire the art of speaking Spanish by watching Spanish movies with available subtitles. Unluckily, it did not work for me as I have desired. So, I go back to my original plan to understand the language first in terms of history or information.

What is this language acknowledged as Spanish? Well for neophyte, Spanish is also known as Castillian or, when spoken in the Spanish language, espaņol or castellano. It is considered as a language of love in Ibero-Romance group called the Romance language which have evolved from various dialects and languages from the northern fringes of the Iberian Peninsula. By the way, the Iberian Peninsula can be placed at the southwestern most part of Europe, which also includes Portugal, Spain, Andorra and a very little area of France. I hope that from this part you have already had a little idea of how to learn how to speak Spanish. (Hint: Visit those countries).

In the 15th century, the Readjustment of the Consonants caused the development of the Spanish language. If a language isn't changing, it will die and eventually be disregarded. Luckily, the Spanish language is said to be an active one because it has continued on taking foreign words and new words are also developed. The dynamic change in language can also be attributed to the elaboration of the Spanish Empire in the early 15th and 19th century.

Now in the year 2010, about 329 to 358 million people in the world can talk Spanish. Take note, the non-native speakers of the language are not just included in this count. If all of the people will be considered including the non-native speakers, it will be greater than 500 million people. Spanish is the 2nd nearly natively spoken language in this world. As for number one, Mandarin of the Chinese with stands the spot.

When you are in Spain or in some of the Spanish speaking countries in the world, never forget to refer to the language with the name espaņol (This is the second time I have noted it, so that you will not forget).

One thing you should remember is that Spanish and Italian languages are have similar phonological system. And using this information, you can able to know how Spanish is sounded and punctuated.

If you wish to learn how to speak Spanish it is also an option to hire a tutor. But let me warn you that you must first have the true hope to learn the Romance language. However, if you are always busy for work like me and don't have adequate time to have lessons during the day. You should not miss hope, because you can also learn the art of speaking Spanish with the assist of the world wide web.

But you ought also know that nothing beats online services especially when you do not have the time.
