Chicago fans are already gearing up for baseball season, and everybody wants to know how the Chicago White Sox are going to fare in 2010. It doesn't help that the Bears had a miserable year, so people want something to look forward to with their sports in the area. Will the White Sox be able to provide some good results in the upcoming MLB season?
The Sox finished 79-83 in 2009, which isn't terrible but of course isn't great either. However, despite finishing at under .500, the club was just 7.5 games back from the division leading Minnesota Twins. That means that small improvements can go a long way towards making a comeback season and entering the postseason once again!
This team is led by its starting pitching, and that's what fans can get really excited about for 2010. First of all, Mark Buehrle is coming off of a phenomenal season where he pitched a perfect game and was once again a true workhorse. The team traded for Jake Peavy last year, but now in 2010 he will be healthy and he will be with the club for the full year. The combination of Peavy and Buehrle is a great 1-2 punch that can stand up with anybody else's in baseball. They will both give the club opportunities to win plenty of games.
So if you're looking ahead to the 2010 White Sox season, then things are looking good! Your starting pitching is going to be the strong point, and if closer Bobby Jenks can get into shape - literally and figuratively - you'll be able to keep opponents to low scores day in and day out. With the tight AL Central division, the White Sox could be looking ahead to a division championship!
